Spring NU@Noon | Rediscovering Boston: A Digital Mapping Project

The Birth of Boston Project is an online map of the residents of Boston in 1648. Chris Parsons worked with graduate students to bring sophisticated digital research tools to uncover the forgotten history of early settlers, including those of enslaved Americans, women, and the laboring class who are often overlooked in the history of our city’s founding. In this presentation, Chris will share the results of the project -- a digital snapshot of lives, relationships and Boston society in 1648 -- and discuss its value to the city and beyond.
