The Boston Pops will perform a symphonic version of “Ragtime,” created especially for the Pops in honor of Keith Lockhart's 25th anniversary, by Tony award-winning original creators – Terrence McNally, Lynn Ahrens, and Stephen Flaherty. Based on the 1975 novel by E. L. Doctorow, “Ragtime” weaves together the stories of three groups in the United States in the early 20th century: Eastern European immigrants, the African-American community in Harlem, and an upper-class white family whose lives intersect. Together, they confront history’s timeless contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope and despair. Join us for the traditional fanfare dinner in the Alumni Center before the show.
