Viral Inequality and Urban Climate Justice

This event was hosted by the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs (SPPUA) at Northeastern. Every city needs to reframe urban climate action to emphasize remedies for the environmental and economic harm inflicted on communities of color. The featured speakers reflected on building a national climate justice agenda to support cities. The speakers included professor and climate author Joan Fitzgerald, activist and journalist Julian Brave NoiseCat, and author and award-winning journalist Derrick Jackson. Ted Landsmark, Director of the SPPUA Dukakis Center, was the moderator.

Black Health Matters Contact-A-Thon

Black Health Matters is a student-led contact-a-thon fundraiser to raise money for grassroots organizations dedicated to improving the health of Black and LGBTQ+ communities led by Northeastern University Global Health Initiative (NUGHI) in partnership with several other student organizations.

Boston Area Research Initiative: Supporting Greater Boston’s Youth

BARI’s annual conference is a unique forum for greater Boston’s civic data ecosystem—spanning the public sector, private sector, non-profits, community leaders, and academia—to explore how data and technology can be used to better understand and serve our communities. “Smart cities” was a topic of focus. Smart cities should be about more than just efficiency and fancy new tools; it is about partnering across institutions and communities to collaboratively transform all of our cities and towns into the places we want them to be.

D’Amore-McKim COVID-19 Resilience Talk: Supply Chain Disruptions in the Pharma Industry

The COVID pandemic has created short-term disruptions of critical supply chains, including those in the pharmaceutical sector. As we learn of the protracted nature of this pandemic, questions are raised of immediate actions that need to be taken to mitigate disruptions, as well as plans for possible medium- and long-term supply chain restructuring. The session will look toward a collective discussion of critical breakdowns within the industry and strategies toward medium- and long-term restructuring.
