Are gifts to Northeastern University tax-deductible?
Northeastern University is a qualified tax-exempt corporation under Section 501 (c)(3), making your contributions tax deductible to the extent provided by law. If you received any tangible benefit in exchange for your contribution, the tax-deductible amount is limited to the amount of your contribution over the stated value of the item or benefit you received.

Where can I find information about Calendar Year End Deadlines?
Do you want to make a gift that counts toward the 2025 tax year? Here are the deadlines:
Online: The quickest and most secure way to make a gift to Northeastern is via our secure online giving page. All online gifts must be made by 11:59 p.m. EST on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.
By mail: To make a gift by mail, send a check to:

Gifts sent through the US Postal Service must be dated and postmarked by December 31, 2025. Gifts sent via private carriers (FedEx, UPS, etc.) must be dated and have a shipping date on or before December 31, 2025.
Securities: Gifts of stocks, bonds, and other securities must be received and transferred into the university’s account by December 31, 2025. Due to processing time requirements, we recommend initiating securities transfers by December 15, 2025, to ensure completion before year-end. The gift date is determined by the date the securities are received in the university’s account, not the date the transfer is initiated.
Wire transfers: Wire transfers must be received by the university by 3:00 p.m. EST on December 31, 2025. We recommend initiating wire transfers by December 30, 2025, to allow for any processing delays. Please visit Ways to Give to see the Wire Transfer instructions.

Can I make a gift in honor or in memory of someone?
Tribute gifts are a meaningful way to honor or memorialize professors, family members, friends, students, or colleagues. For honor gifts, we’ll send an acknowledgment to the person being recognized. For memorial gifts, we’ll reach out to the family. For online gifts, please fill out the tribute gift fields during checkout. If you’re donating by check or other methods, simply include a note with your gift or send us an email with the tribute information.

What is the Northeastern Loyalty Society and how do I become a member?
Open to all undergraduate and graduate Northeastern alumni who have made a gift of any amount to the university for two or more consecutive years. To retain membership, NLS members must make a gift between July 1 and June 30 each year.
