Each year, thousands of members of the Northeastern community–alumni, parents, students, and friends–descend on the Boston campus to celebrate Homecoming.  From affinity gatherings and sporting events to a memorable comedy show and the ever-popular FanFest Tailgate, there is truly something for everyone!



Homecoming 2019

This year’s Homecoming will take place November 6—11.  Beginning on Thursday night, we will enjoy this year’s Homecoming Headliner in Matthews.  Saturday  night will be the FanFest Tailgate outside Matthews arena before cheering on the Men’s Hockey team as they go against Merrimack College.  Veterans Day will be observed on Monday, Nov. 11 where the Northeastern University ROTC Alumni Society will meet for lunch before the university’s Veterans Day Ceremony.

    Our fourth annual Women Who Empower Summit will bring together alumni, students, faculty, parents, and friends for a program of thought leadership, inspiration and learning. Northeastern’s Women Who Empower initiative is grounded in the belief that diverse and inclusive communities empower a better world. This network is made up of aspiring and distinguished leaders who share a passion for fostering positive environments, connections, and opportunities for all people to thrive.

    Celebrate the kick off to Homecoming Weekend with other Huntington 100 honorees.  A completed registration will ensure each Huntington 100 alumnus/a with one drink ticket.

    Civil & Environmental Engineering Fall Mixer
    $5 per ticket

    Northeastern University Civil Engineering Alumni Organization (NUCEAO) invites you to network and meet fellow civil engineering alumni at the fall mixer. Make new connections over appetizers to kick-off Homecoming 2019.

    Northeastern alumni can purchase up to four (4) tickets. The purchase must be made by an alumnus/a. Presented by Council for University Programs (CUP) and the Homecoming Committee. Sponsored by the Student Activity Fee.

    Young Alumni Reunion – YAR!

    $10 per ticket

    Join classmates from graduating years 2009 – 2019 at Northeastern’s annual Young Alumni Reunion!  YAR is THE Northeastern young alumni party of the year so come back to campus with friends and celebrate!  The first 100 to register receive tickets to the Men’s Basketball home opener vs. Harvard that night!

    Dance to great music, enjoy food and drink while you mingle and make more memories!

    Northeastern’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions is pleased to offer an overview of the undergraduate admissions process at selective institutions. The program will include a case study that will give participants insight into the application review process and put participants in an admission counselor’s seat!

  • African American Institute 50th Anniversary Closing Celebration

    Join us for The Closing Ceremony of the John D. O’Bryant African American Institute (JDOAAI)’s 50th Anniversary celebrations. Let’s start a conversation about what the future will look like for The Institute. And, of course, mark the end of our anniversary with great food and lots of dancing!

    The fall of 2019 represents the conclusion of the year-long 50th anniversary celebration of the establishment of the John D. O’Bryant African American Institute (JDOAAI) on Northeastern University’s campus. Join us to celebrate the Institute’s rich history, highlight Black student presence on campus and dialogue about the Institute and the University’s future.

    Ujima, Legacy and MLK Fellows Reunion Luncheon

    The Ujima (Project, Scholars, Global Leaders) Program grew out of a pre-freshman orientation program established in 1969.The Legacy Mentoring and Leadership Program was established in 1995 to support first year students as they transition into college life.The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Graduate Fellowship program was established in the 80s to encourage students of the African Diaspora pursue excellence in leadership and graduate education.Northeastern Ujima, Legacy and MLK alumni and current students are invited to a special welcome back reunion lunch at the John D. O’Bryant African American Institute. This will be an opportunity for Project Ujima, Ujima Scholars and Ujima Global Leaders Alumni, the Legacy Mentoring and Leadership Program Alumni and the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Graduate Fellows Program Alumni of the John D. O’Bryant African American Institute to return to the place they built a foundation over the last 50 years, meet with current students and discuss how their experience with Ujima, Legacy and the MLK Fellowship Programs impacted their future success.

    Join us for a networking reception hosted by current students and Black student organization leaders. Invited student organization leaders include, Northeastern Black Student Association (NBSA), Graduate Student of Color Collective (GSCC), Greek Organizations (NPHC), Northeastern African Student Organization (NASO), Black Engineering Student Society (BESS), Unity Gospel Ensemble (UGE), Haitian Student Unity (HSU), and so many more. This is an opportunity for students to connect and network with our distinguished alumni.

    Immediately following the networking reception, in partnership with RBB alumni, enjoy jazz band The Sleeping Bee.

    The 2025 Vision for the Future of “The Institute”
    Dr. Richard O’Bryant, the director of the John D. O’Bryant African American Institute, will chart a vision and course for the future direction of the Institute and connect it to Northeastern’s “2025” initiative.

    Gospel Inspiration – Phil Thompson Worship
    Phil Thompson is an international gospel artist that was born and raised in the Boston area. Phil joins us as we close out our year-long 50th anniversary celebration of the founding of the John D. O’Bryant African American Institute. Phil was a member of the popular urban contemporary gospel group Ashmont Hill before embarking on a successful solo career with the release of his debut album, My Worship, 2018. A worship leader at Boston’s renowned Jubilee Christian Church, Phil Thompson has been singing since childhood. A member of the celebrated Jubilee Thompson family, Phil Thompson continues to blaze his own path in the gospel music community. This will be a wonderful inspiring way to close out all of our activities and recognitions.
