The School of Journalism at Northeastern University’s College of Arts, Media and Design invites you to the annual Jack Thomas Lecture Series featuring a conversation with Nancy Barnes, Editor of The Boston Globe moderated by Jonathan Kaufman, Director and Professor of the School of Journalism. The lecture is a complement to the Tom Winship Scholar program in the School of Journalism, which provides support for first-generation, local Boston, and underrepresented students to ensure newsrooms reflect the communities they serve.
The Center for International Affairs and World Cultures runs a book launch series for new faculty books that make a ground-breaking contribution to the study of international relations. Through this series, we aim to showcase thought-provoking narratives, cultural exploration, and intellectual exchange focused on the themes of international cooperation, mutual understanding, and empathy in solving major global challenges. Dr. Rivera Vega is a Professor of English at the University of Puerto Rico, specializing in Diasporic Puerto Rican Literature, Contemporary U.S. Latinx writing, and Caribbean migration narratives, and Women’s Studies.

The First-Gen Awards Ceremony is a key part of the Center for Intercultural Engagement (CIE) and the First-Generation, Undocumented, and Low-Income (FUNL) Network’s First-Gen Week, an annual week of signature programming celebrating and resourcing Northeastern community members who are the first in their families to attend college or university in the United States.
The LSCC offers weekly “Hora del Café” meetups during the Fall and Spring semesters. This is a time when all Northeastern community members interested in practicing and learning Spanish can come together for informal conversations in Spanish while enjoying coffee and snacks. This grand and dream-tweaked comedy is about violence and legacy, art and activism, feminism and terrorism, compatriots and chosen sisters, and how we actually go about changing the world.
