“Once on Christmas Eve, I was trying to think of an extraordinary gift for my best friend, and none of the options selling at the stores fit the bill. I considered a Christmas tree ornament, but only plastic plain spheres were available. Then I remembered that I used to crochet, and thought what could be more beautiful and festive than crochet with seed beads? So I’ve created my very first Christmas tree ornament using the bead crochet technique. There was a baby deer illustrated on the ornament, and it came out sparkly and remarkable. So I created my shop in case somebody like me is in search of something unique.”
Since Happy Hour of Crochet was opened, new techniques have been incorporated to create a variety of items, from necklaces to accessories. But still, every Christmas, the focus is always the class Christmas tree ornament.

THEIR STORY
Working as an Oncology Registered Nurse and learning about the chemicals found in beauty products that can lead to cancer, Cummings started to pay attention to the ingredients in her skincare products. As a result, she started to experiment with natural body butters sourced from Africa, as well as different oils. Healthy skin gives people self esteem and the confidence to reach their highest potential. The name, Natural Ash, means to naturally rid your skin of being “ashy”. Natural Ash embodies health, skin care, and positivity. Taking care of your skin gives you self esteem and a positive self image. Natural Ash not only takes care of your skin, but also is environmentally conscious when selecting ingredients and packaging. Remember, always Care Beneath Your Skin.

Natural Ash is created and formulated by their founder, Ashley Cummings, RN. Each batch of body butter is handmade in Harlem with only natural ingredients. They understand that everyone’s skin is different and requires individual attention, therefore they have a variety of body butters.
THEIR STORY
Working as an Oncology Registered Nurse and learning about the chemicals found in beauty products that can lead to cancer, Cummings started to pay attention to the ingredients in her skincare products. As a result, she started to experiment with natural body butters sourced from Africa, as well as different oils. She wanted to know what she was putting on her skin for hydration, as the products will then go into her body. As a nurse, she naturally wants those around her to take care of their bodies and skin. After all, your skin’s health is a direct reflection of your overall health and wellness. This is your body’s largest organ and its protectant.
THEIR FOUNDER
Ashley is a Registered Nurse originally from Massachusetts, but has been living in New York City since 2009. She began making body butters in her Harlem apartment in 2017. As a Registered Nurse, Ashley knows the importance of skincare and ensuring that harmful chemicals are not a part of your daily skincare regimen.
