This event was designed to welcome newcomers to their communities and gave Northeastern alumni a chance to reconnect and get to know each other. Whether they had just moved to their city, relocated during the pandemic or have lived there since graduation, they had the chance to meet new Northeastern alumni and learn about exciting upcoming events and opportunities in their region. In times like this, it was the perfect way to say connected to the Pack!

Education as Critical Infrastructure for a Resilient Recovery

The Global Resilience Institute (GRI) presented its recent work with FEMA. The featured panelists were Stephen Flynn, director of the GRI; and Alicia Sasser Modestino, research director for the Dukakis Center. This was part of the Fall 2020 Myra Kraft Open Classroom.

Original Animated Film and an Exploration of Archived Survivor Testimony

This was a screening of two student presentations: The 2019-2020 Gideon Klein project, an original animated film by Yael Sheinfeld ’21, based on a children’s book, The Children’s Tree of Terezin; and a presentation by Jessie Sigler ’20 about her project to increase accessibility to the Northeastern Holocaust Awareness Archives, especially the trove of survivor testimonies. This was part of the postponed 2020 Holocaust and Genocide Awareness Week presented by the College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Northeastern.

A Conversation on Whistleblowing, Authority, and Subversion

The 2019-2020 "Authority and Subversion" Fellowship discussed whistleblowing with the speakers: Allison Stanger, Professor of International Politics and Economics at Middlebury College, David Sanger, New York Times correspondent and author Lida Maxwell, Associate Professor of Political Science and WGSS at Boston University.

The Department of African American Studies led a panel discussion rooted in Africana Studies Scholarship and its intersections with COVID-19 and Black Lives Matter.

Virtual Summer Northeastern University School Health Academy

Participants learned about timely topics including reopening schools; working with immigrant and refugee students; and racism in schools and nursing temperature assessment. This annual summer event was run by the Northeastern University School Health Academy and offered the opportunity for 12 contact hours.

The D’Amore McKim School of Business will be hosting its annual Summer Networking Event, this time via Zoom Breakout Rooms. Employers will be placed in breakout rooms with groups of students that will rotate after a certain amount of time. Come meet students and alumni in the our graduate business programs both MBA and MSF.
