How are the Students Doing?: Identifying Mental and Physical Health Concerns and Strategies during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Join the Northeastern University School of Nursing and the School Health Academy at their voting day virtual conference. Hear from educational leaders on the mental and physical health concerns of the COVID-19 pandemic. This event provides 4 contact hours and 4 PDP’s.

Women’s Gender, and Sexuality Studies Annual Symposium: #Feminism: Gender & the 2020 Election

Expert panelists and participants in this interdisciplinary symposium will consider how gender and feminist activism should inform our thinking about the upcoming elections. We will look at how feminists might engage social movements, digital spaces, and broader communities in trying to effect social change. Panels will invite conversations about new forms of media in the hands of feminist activists, historical perspectives on gender and electoral politics (in celebration of the anniversary of suffrage), mainstream media coverage of elections through the lens of gender, and leveraging the unprecedented visibility of women (particularly women of color) in both electoral and grassroots politics. This is symposium is presented by the Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program, supported by the Northeastern Humanities Center.

Myra Kraft Open Classroom: Pre-election Prognostications

The Myra Kraft Open Classroom was presented by the School of Public Policy & Urban Affairs. A major topic was how whatever the outcome of the November election, the President would assert a new agenda in January, one that focused on completing unrealized tasks, or one that would bring a new Administration to Washington. Either way, the discussion of public policy agenda-setting in a post-pandemic environment would require thoughtful and, at times, provocative discussions.

Northeastern alumni in law came together to discuss their career paths, learn about professional opportunities, provide guidance to others, and discuss the impact of our unique times on the industry. This networking session was a great opportunity for those established in their positions, looking for their next step, or curious about how to enter the field.

School of Law Alumni/ae Weekend 2020

The School of Law at Northeastern presented the first-ever virtual Reunion and Alumni/ae Weekend. It was a weekend of fun and friendship as we honored the classes of the 1950s, '75, '80, '85, '90, '95, '00, '05, '10, and '15. The keynote speaker was Massachusetts Senate President Karen Spilka, L’80.

The History of Brunch and How to Host a Perfectly Proper Pandemic Brunch with the Etiquetteer

Brunch was one of the biggest social innovations of the 20th century, taking off in the post-World War II years when America began embracing a less formal lifestyle. Hosted by Danielle Messler SSH’13, creator of the Boston Brunch Guide, with Etiquetteer, Robert B. Dimmick, we learned about the history and evolution of brunch as a social occasion, and tips to host a Perfectly Proper brunch in your own home before, during, and after the pandemic.
