IDEA: Northeastern University’s Venture Accelerator
IDEA is Northeastern’s venture accelerator for Northeastern-affiliated entrepreneurs who are looking to launch their own businesses. Alumni are eligible to take full advantage of mentoring and services and may apply for a $10,000 Gap Fund grant. Northeastern University Impact Lending
Northeastern has partnered with the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) to launch Impact Lending, an initiative to help small business owners in Boston, and abroad, access affordable capital and connect to vendor opportunities at Northeastern. Through Impact Lending, business owners can apply for up to $1 million in financing for any business purpose from working capital to refinancing high-interest debt.
Alumni Entrepreneur Highlight
When Ayukta Thakur, AMD’12, traveled to Dubai for vacation in 2012, she planned to stay for one month. Instead, she never left, and wound up creating the first ever program for young adults with special needs in the largest and most populous city in the United Arab Emirates.
Her plan to create the program took shape shortly after she arrived in Dubai. She started volunteering at a special needs school run by the government there and met parents who kept asking the same question: What’s next for my child?”

Center for Entrepreneurship Education
The Center for Entrepreneurship Education is a university-wide resource that integrates entrepreneurship and innovation courses, entrepreneurial co-ops in early stage companies, venture incubation through our on-campus venture accelerator, IDEA, and venture funding and launch by helping our entrepreneurs network into the local angel and VC community. Health Sciences Entrepreneurs
The Health Sciences Entrepreneurs program is housed in the Bouvé College of Health Sciences, and was created to introduce entrepreneurial business opportunities in the health sciences to students, alumni, and faculty. The program, founded in 2005, by alumnus Joseph Fleming, PAH ’70, MS ’71, focuses on educating alumni and faculty entrepreneurs by providing them with the knowledge and tools to build successful companies. The program hosts annual events and a mentoring program for alumni, graduate students and faculty from Northeastern who are starting businesses in the health sciences.CLOSE

Mosaic is an alliance of student-led organizations that support venture incubation at Northeastern University. There are currently nine Mosaic organizations with many more being designed and developed within colleges across campus. The Sherman Center for Engineering Entrepreneurship Education
Our mission is to enable interdisciplinary student entrepreneurship in the broadest sense by providing education about tools, concepts, and resources to foster creativity and the ability to develop commercially viable ideas. Since its opening in May 2014, the program’s curriculum is designed to arm engineering students with the appropriate entrepreneurial skills to successfully pitch and commercialize their innovations.
