Senior Week x Commencement = Commencement Week

A week of fun and celebration for the Class of 2021.

Events are open to Northeastern graduating students (undergraduate, graduate, and professional) only. Attendees who sign up to attend in-person events must follow Northeastern University COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
All times are EDT.


Registration is required. Some events require registration in groups to ensure COVID-19 safety protocols. You must use your Northeastern student email address ( to register.


Each weekday from Monday, May 3, through Friday, May 7, a new experiential Northeastern tradition will honor our graduates. Don your cap and gown to proceed in timed-entry slots from West Village, stopping along the route to enjoy interactive exhibits of sights and sounds created just for you. Processions will end at Matthews Arena, where participants will have the opportunity to hear their name called, walk across the commencement stage, have an official photo taken (which they will receive gratis), and enjoy a swag bag. You must register for a time to participate. Processionals are not by college or major.

Class of 2021 Playlist

A carefully curated collection of music that spans your time at Northeastern University has been created. This playlist will be broadcast all week on campus as students walk through the Processionals. Listen along with Spotify and Apple Music!

The Commencement Week Information Center located at Campus Crossroads in Curry will be open all week to answer all your questions.

Kick off senior week with bowling, arcade games, and a full food and beverage service. Choose your favorite activity and sign up with up with a group of your friends!

Bowling must be purchased in groups of 6 and includes a lane spot for the group, a buffet selection and a drink ticket.

Pool must be purchased in groups of 4 and will include dedicated pool table, booth for the group, a buffet selection, and a drink ticket.

Arcade includes a $35 game card for each person good for one hour, a buffet selection, and a drink ticket.

There are two time slots for each section to sign up, be sure to check with your group to only register yourself once!

Jason Derulo Concert and Live Q&A hosted Keke Palmer

Let R&B and pop singer, songwriter, and dancer Jason Derulo give you a memorable sendoff with a free concert of his hits exclusively for graduating Northeastern students. He’ll be pulling from his extensive library of tunes, including including 11 Platinum singles, while actress, singer, and TV personality Keke Palmer will emcee a Q&A session following the concert. Zoom link will be provided after registration.

Bamboo Garden Tent at Robinson Quad

Celebrate a Northeastern tradition! Create your own adorable stuffed Husky pal to commemorate your time at Northeastern. You can participate onsite by signing up for a slot in the Bamboo Garden Tent, or pick up your kit to make the stuffed animal at your leisure. Registration is in 30-minute blocks.

Graduation Cap Decorating
Industry Place Tent at Robinson Quad

Let your graduation cap reflect your Northeastern pride with decorations to match the festive energy of Commencement! Come to the Industry Place Tent to either pick up your supplies to-go or take a socially distanced spot within the tent and use your artistic talent to commemorate this momentous occasion. Registration is in 30-minute blocks.

The Last Lecture

As specially chosen by the Class of 2021, Professor Rebecca Shansky will be delivering a heartfelt and inspirational message, echoing the renowned talk of the same name by the late Randy Pausch. Professor Shansky will discuss the unique stressors of this past year as they can be shown through the neuroscience of stress, which is one of her main areas of focus. Take part in this empowering sendoff in Blackman Auditorium or virtually.

Honors Senior Cording Ceremony

The University Honors Program cordially invites Honors program graduating senior and their loved ones to a virtual Senior Cording Ceremony to celebrate the many accomplishments of the class of 2021. RSVP Required.

Senior Night @ Fenway – Red Sox vs. Detroit Tigers

$15–$20 per ticket

Come and celebrate Commencement Week at Fenway Park as the Red Sox take on Detroit Tigers! Game time is 7:10 pm, but arrive early to hear a Northeastern senior sing the national anthem.

To follow MLB health and safety guidelines, all tickets will be sold in physically distanced “pods” comprised of two or four seats, which allow for safe distance between groups. All tickets will be delivered digitally via the MLB Ballpark App.

Not Your Average Boston History Walking Tour
Downtown Crossing

Have you done the typical history tour of Boston yet? Walked the Freedom Trail? Ate the best cannoli in the North End? Well this tour will be that and more! Follow volunteer docent Dianna Bronchuk around a portion of the Freedom Trail into the North End, discussing the famous and infamous moments of Boston’s history along the way. This tour will start in Downtown Crossing and end in the North End with a tasty treat. Transportation to Downtown Crossing is not included.

Boston Duck Tours

The Office of Alumni Relations is excited to “get quacking” with three private Boston Duck Tours that traverse both land and water. Enjoy an hour and twenty minutes of breathtaking views of unique neighborhoods and historical landmarks, and walk away as a true history buff. Departure is from Northeastern’s Forsyth Circle at Ruggles T Stop. Tours will take place rain or shine!

The Joy of Painting with Lil Yachty

The rapper, singer, and songwriter Lil Yachty will lead graduates in a Paint Night.

Enhance your experience with lil paints, lil paint brushes, a canvas and a snack pack for $10. You must be pick up the lil paints, lil paint brushes and snack pack from the Commencement Week Information Center. These items will not be mailed. Zoom link will be provided after registration.
