Our team is committed to enhancing your senior year experience, preparing you to join the alumni community, and advancing the university’s mission. Commencement!

The Ceremony

Commencement exercises for 2021 undergraduates (December 2020, May 2021, and August 2021 graduates) will take place on Saturday, May 8 at Fenway Park, in rain or shine. For updates on commencement stay tuned to and the Commencement website and be sure to read all communications from the Commencement Office.

Cap and Gowns

If you haven’t already ordered your cap and gown, order here now. Processing and shipping typically takes 3 weeks at minimum, with additional time needed for international addresses. As unexpected delays may occur and timely delivery is not guaranteed, it is strongly recommended you don’t delay order now!

Hotel Accomodations

Are you or your family members looking for accommodations in the area for Commencement? A reduced rate for the Residence Inn Boston Back Bay/Fenway for anyone planning on taking part in Commencement has been secured. Our rate of $329 per night will apply to May 6-9. The last day to book at this reduced price is Friday, April 23.

Donor Cords

Support the area you love most at Northeastern with at least $20.21 and add an exclusive donor cord to your Commencement Day attire! Not only will 100% of your donation go to the area of your choice, but you can also leave your legacy at Northeastern and boldly wear your Husky pride on the day. Make your gift today by using the online giving form or support a HuskyStarter project. All senior donors, regardless of gift amount, will have their name featured on the Class of 2021 Donor Wall, and will be invited to the Senior Donor Champagne Reception during Commencement Week.

2021 Senior Year Experience Board

The Senior Year Experience Board (SYEB) is a group of undergraduate seniors who advise and help Alumni Relations execute senior year events and activities — the Senior Year Experience. The SYEB works with the SYE advisor on all aspects of the SYE to ensure that content and programming is relevant to the seniors and enhances their experience .

All seniors who give a cumulative donation of $20.21 throughout the year will receive a donor cord to wear at Commencement. Pick up details will be emailed directly to donors.

Giving Day 2021

Giving Day is back and better than ever! On Thursday, April 8, the Northeastern community will reunite for an exciting day filled with virtual challenges and festivities. There is also a special challenge that could help your gift have an even greater impact on the day: all seniors who donate between 12 am and 12 pm ET will have the chance to direct a total of $5,000 in challenge funds to the area of their choice! 10 senior donors will be randomly chosen to allocate $500 to each of their choice areas.

Your Giving Day gift will count towards the $20.21 minimum needed to receive a Commencement Day donor cord.

FAQ

How long does my HuskyMail email work after graduation?

As an alumnus you retain access to HuskyMail and G-Apps (student email, calendar and documents) after graduation unless you request to be removed from the service. If you have an active hold on your account, access to these services may be terminated one year after your graduation date.

How long do I have access to the gym?

You will lose access to the gym and recreation facilities immediately. The class of 2020 will have continued access to the facilities until August 31, 2020 upon completing an Alumni Membership Form, which can be accessed through the Campus Recreation portal on myNortheastern or on the campus recreation website.

How long does my Student Husky Card work after graduation? 

Your Student Husky Cards will be deactivated upon graduation. You will need to sign up for your Alumni Husky Card.

How do I get my Alumni Husky Card? What does my Alumni Husky Card do? 

Visit Husky Card Services in 4 Speare Commons during business hours to receive your Alumni Husky Card. Your Alumni Husky Card gives you: 

• access to the Snell Library 

• ability to use Husky Dollars remaining on your account 

• access to the Marino Center — if you sign up for an alumni gym membership.

Do I have access to NUCareers after graduation?

As an alumnus/a, you are always invited to participate in Employer Engagement and Career Design events and workshops. You also have full access to NUcareers and other online tools that are available to full-time students. Use your myNortheastern username and password to access NUcareers.

Can I still take advantage of the resources at Snell Library?

With your Alumni Husky Card, you can visit any Northeastern library during regular service hours and borrow books and videos, or use on-site collections. The Alumni Reading Room is also available to alumni. Alumni also have access to select online library resources, including RefWorks.

There are many career resources available to you through various university departments. The Office of Alumni Relations can help connect alumni with the resource that best suits their needs, whether that is to guide them through the next step in your chosen profession, begin your own startup, or reposition yourself in an ever-changing market.
